Our Purpose

About the team behind the Raised Hands Initiative and our mission

At the heart of our work is a simple belief every child and young person deserves to feel safe, heard and supported. Our team brings together people from diverse backgrounds in government and private education, law enforcement, and a range of corporate sectors, all united by one goal: to give every student, teacher, educator and parent a safe way to raise their hand when something doesn’t feel right.

We understand that safeguarding isn’t just a compliance requirement it’s a shared responsibility that begins with awareness and is strengthened through trust, compassion and action. That’s why we partner with schools, early-learning services and education organisations to create environments where speaking up is not only encouraged but protected.

Our collective expertise spans the regulatory landscape, including the Reportable Conduct Scheme and other child-safety frameworks, allowing us to guide organisations in meeting their obligations while building cultures of openness and care.

Beyond frameworks and policies, our work is driven by a commitment to helping educators, leaders and families feel confident in responding to concerns early before harm occurs.

Together, and in conjunction with efforts from our trusted partners we are helping to shape safer spaces for learning, growing and thriving where every voice matters, and every hand raised is met with respect and action.
